Civil közösségek

Throughout its history, the Jász Museum has been shaped by the communities and civil organisations connected to it. Whether their aim was the study of history or the preservation of Jász and Hungarian traditions, the museum has consistently provided them with a home, professional support, and public visibility. These partnerships are not occasional: communities contribute programmes, volunteer energy, and local knowledge, while the museum offers a reliable institutional framework, expertise, and continuity. In this way, the museum functions both as a guardian of collections and as an active meeting place where the past is interpreted together with the communities of the present.

The museum currently provides a home for seven civil organisations: the Jász Museum Foundation, the Jászság Heritage Preservation Association, the Town Protection and Beautification Association, the Jászberény Group of the Imre Nagy Society, the Council of the Jász Captain, the Jászberény Local Heritage Inventory Committee, and the Armed Services Friends’ Circle. Beyond this, the Jász Museum maintains close cooperation with local and regional municipalities, the Association of the Jász People, academic research groups, universities, and professional organisations representing the interests of museums. These partnerships strengthen the museum’s community roots and help it operate at once as a research-oriented institution and an open, welcoming public space.

Among the museum’s greatest assets—beyond its collections—are its broad volunteer base and the Jászkakasok community, who are equally essential and work side by side to support the institution. By contributing their time and effort, they help sustain everyday operations: assisting with weekend duty shifts, supporting the preparation and delivery of public events, and taking an active role in community-based archaeological work. Their contribution is more than practical support; it is also a powerful sign of trust between the museum and its public—proof that the museum’s mission is a shared cause that many people genuinely take as their own.
