26. December 1874.
The Jász Museum opens to the public. The first object to enter the collection is the Jász Horn.

1896
The Jász Horn is exhibited at the Millennium Exhibition. The symbol of the Jászság receives nationwide recognition.

1899
The museum moves into the Jászkürt Inn.

1913
The museum moves from the Jászkürt Inn to the newly built upper-floor wing of the Mayor’s Office.

21. September 1924.
The Jász Museum celebrates the 50th anniversary of its foundation.

1931
The museum returns to the former stable building, where it is allocated three larger rooms and one smaller room.

5. November 1944.
In response to news of the advancing Soviet army, the most important artefacts, including the Jász Horn, are hidden for safekeeping.

After 1950
The Jász Museum comes under state administration.

1951
The first permanent archaeological and urban history exhibition opens, giving the museum a clearer professional profile.

25 April 1962
The Jász Museum becomes a member institution of the county museum organisation, with the Damjanich János Museum in Szolnok serving as its central institution.

1974
The Jász Museum celebrates the 100th anniversary of its foundation. A commemorative anniversary yearbook of the museum is published.

1976
The Jász Museum receives the former Szelei Street school building for use as museum storage. It continues to serve as one of the museum’s storage facilities today.

1978
The Jász Museum receives the neighbouring former Green Cross building. The museum’s current exhibition is also located in this building.

1990
The museum buildings, together with the objects that had entered the collection before 1950, are returned to the ownership of the city.

1999
The Jász Museum receives the Museum of the Year – 1998 award, gaining nationwide professional recognition.

1 January 2013
The Jász Museum returns to the maintenance of the City of Jászberény.

2018
The museum receives the former Zöld Csillag kindergarten building on Szent Imre herceg Street for storage purposes.

2019
The museum receives the former coach house building in the courtyard of the Town Hall for use as a visible storage facility.

29 november 2024
The Jász Museum celebrates the 150th anniversary of its foundation with a full-day commemorative event.

Today
The Jász Museum preserves the heritage of the Jász past while functioning as a research centre and a community space, maintaining an ongoing dialogue with the people of the Jászság.
